Day 1 – Arrival
As a first time international traveler I think Bali was the perfect destination for myself and my partner Drew. The flight was a long 6 hours – I have been sick the past few days, so the blocked up head didn’t make for a fun flight! But I have to say, the uneasiness didn’t stop on the plane… We got out of the airport at about 11.30pm, and the first thing we see is a guy surrounded by 3 men bombarding us asking where we needed to go. I’ve heard that you have to be pretty thick skinned and probably a bit abrupt with people here, but I’m not like that! I’m sure I’ll learn quickly though. But in the end we got to our villa (which is beautiful by the way) having to pay the 3 men for taking our luggage to the taxi, and the taxi man himself who asked for too much…
The more I go over what I’ve written, the more I realise it doesn’t exactly sound like a great place to visit, but I promise you that it will get better!
We pretty much crashed the second we got to our beds, but waking up to a beautiful 29 degrees Celsius (coming from Melbourne with an average of 15 this time of year) was amazing! We woke up and ate our delicious complimentary buffet breakfast, and then went for a wander. The streets are crazy and the wandering was a little confronting, but it was a very interesting experience, in a good mind blowing way if you get what I mean?
After sweating like an Australian out of water, we came home to Seminyak Villa Estate and Spa, walked out our back door directly into the pool (I’m not even kidding, there’s one step out the back door and bam! A pool), sat down at the pool bar and had a few cocktails
Drew and I have decided that the roads are just a little too hectic for out virgin travelers minds, so tomorrow we are organising a driver to take us to all the sites! Needless to say I’m pretty excited!
So, that is probably why all my writing is just falling out instead of making any sense, I am sorry for that. But this is just an account of Bali from a very wide eyed girl out on her first big adventure!
