Day 5 – The Travel Birthday
It was Dani’s birthday today. She turned a lazy 28. Did you know that a 28-sided polygon is called an icosikaioctagon?
This is the brief version of today because it is very late, we are both very tired, and tomorrow will be a huge day!
- Got up early and packed because we were moving to the wedding venue
- Dropped the luggage off with Amy and Anthony
- Quick train ride to Kyoto station
- Quick Shinkansen ride to Shin-Osaka station
- 90ish minute Shinkansen ride to Hiroshima station
- 30 minute train ride to Miyajima station
- 15 minute ferry cruise to Miyajima Island
- More DEERS!!
- Dontonburi for lunch
- Itsukushima Shrine for the next shrine stamp
- Walked the streets of Miyajima
- Cable Cart up to Mount Misen
- Observe the amazing view – decide to walk to the first trail marker
- Surprise hiking is hard work!
- Arrived at the first trail marker, realised it was already time to return
- Made our way back down on the cable cart
- Ferry, Train, wait an hour, buy BENTO BOXES, Shinkansen #1, Shinkansen #2, arrive at Kyoto Station
- Get Tim to meet up with Eric who is the owner of the AirBNB place we are staying because we were going to meet up at 8 and we didn’t make it back to Kyoto until 10
- Grab everything from old accommodation and make out way to new place
- NEW PLACE IS SO COOL – need to explore when it is light!
- Showers and bed!
- Make this quick to-do list of the cool things we did today
- Prepare to write this blog post in more detail in the next few days
- Get way excited for the Wedding TOMORROW!
