Day 4 – Market Mayhem

We may have bitten off more than we could chew for today. We had the best intentions of getting up early and getting to a few more places before heading back to Melbourne this afternoon, but I think we may have underestimated the sheer size of Salamanca market. Looking at a map of the market, it shows to have over 300 individual stalls taking over the majority of Salamanca Place.

The smells walking through the stalls were incredible! All of the baked goods and street food had me hungry the second we got out of the car. 

It was a pretty sweet market, with lots of proud sellers of hand crafted goods. With limited space in our luggage, we opted to leave all the pretty things behind, which left our bank accounts happy. But we did partake in many of the yummy smelling items being sold. 

With the crew caffeinated and marketed out, we decided to head to the airport a little bit early, unfortunately skipping the second part of our plans for the day and instead making note of Opossum Bay Beach and it’s famous fish and chip shop to visit the next time we’re in Hobart. With so many historical sites and beautiful sceneries, I’m already making a list of places to see when we come back in the future. 

What a short, but magical trip we’ve had. I have left Hobart with a little more culture, and appreciation of our magnificent country, which up until recently, was not necessarily there.
