Day 1 – We Made It!

What a day… we left home at 4.15 am this morning and we’re only just sitting down and relaxing for the first time – it’s 10.30 pm. And our travels weren’t the quiet run of the mill either! Our first flight got delayed (At the start of boarding they asked that someone named Jenna Clark come forward – we proceeded to sit there for another 50 minutes, so it’s now Jenna’s fault), they told us it was something to do with loading bags. So when we finally take off, we’re level for maybe 30 minutes, and they make another announcement – they have a special announcement. Some guy proposed to his girlfriend. Congrats to you both, but really, on a flight to Cairns? Yeah so we land about 40 minutes late – which isn’t dire because we had a 3 hour layover in Cairns – but lunch was rushed and made my tummy a bit uncomfortable for the start of the next flight. Long story short, flight was long, we slept, gamed, slept some more, ate a bit and bam! Japan!

We then had to get a 75 minute train ride from Osaka Kansai airport to Kyoto station. One thing that made me realise is everyone here is so polite! Another thing I learnt is that blonde hair doesn’t help you not look like a tourist. Tim and I have already been part of a sneaky photo on the train. sigh. It should make the random background photo competition we’re having amongst the group fairly easy!

We finally made it to the hotel, dropped our bags and went to find food. Funny thing is, there’s this little curry joint just literally across the road from the hotel called Coco Curry. Our first meal in Japan was a curry! A bloody good one too. So so yummy.
So for now, I’m wrecked. It’s time for bed!
